Top Fuel
New Kids on the Block Really Rock.

Most of the people who read this, or any of the results pages are going to say, “Who the hell is JR Todd?” Well you better learn who he is because if the past two day are any indication of what this former Jr. Dragster Champion can do, the rest of the top fuel field better hang on to their hats. The Jimmy Walsh run team was in the top half of the field yesterday and today he hit it out of the park. A very quick .843 sixty foot time parleyed into a stout 4.50 flat at 321.65

Qualifying Under Way in Pomona

Clay Millican (Drummonds TN) shot to the top of the qualifying ladder this afternoon at the season opening Car Quest Winternationals in Pomona, California. Millican driving the Kenny Koretsky owned Warner Enterprises Top Fuel Dragster ran a very solid 4.528 at just 312.86 miles per hour. Doug Kalitta ran right behind Millican to take the second spot at 4.538 seconds. The biggest surprise is J.R. Todd driving the Minards Dragster has a claim on the third spot with a very nice 4.578 with early shut off speed of 294.88. Jimmy Walsh has really done a yeoman’s job of bringing this team along, with a rookie driver. Bringing up the end of the qualifying pack is Bruce Litton in the other Lucas Oil fueler.

Why isn't Ward Burton in a Ride This Year
Category: NASCAR / Oval Track Racing | Posted February 02, 2006 by Brian Losness | Source: Marty Smith

The old adiage out of site out of mind, is the best way to put the way former Daytona 500 winner Ward Burton last year has gone. He spent the year not driving a Cup car or even a Busch car but just working on his land and wildlife conservation

foundation. He states " that at first the phone rang alot" , but the offers where not of the quality he was used to, or they were Busch or Truck rides. " Im a Cup driver, and nothing else." stated Burton last year, but a year out of the seat seems to have changed that feeling somewhat. The loss of that year made me realize how much I love the sport, like the competition, like the camaraderie and intermingling with the fans, building sponsor programs, all of it," he said. "Getting a year behind me and not being at Daytona, I just missed that a lot. I have the itch to get back and do what I know I can do well -- drive a race car."

Another Andretti saddles up in an Indy Car.
Category: INDY CAR / F1 / Open Wheel | Posted January 29, 2006 by Brian Losness

With dad attempting a come back to attempt to win that elusive Indy 500, third generation Andretti, Marco began testing in the big cars recently.
Four days after passing his Indy Racing League rookie test , Marco was at the 1.5 mile Texas Motor Speedway oval. Marco was turning laps in team leader Tony Kanaan's Honda powered Dallara.

Marco will continue to get used to the Indy cars during test at Phoenix International Raceway this weekend. "Those first couple of laps where pretty interesting" stated Andretti. Marco will eventually will be in the seat of the number 26 Dallara using Honda power with backing from ArcaEx. "Things were moving pretty quickly for me. But after you get settled in the car, everything slows down and you get into a grove. It is definitely going to be alot of fun."

I ran some at Michigan which is obviously a half a mile longer but with less banking. so you get a lot more feel for the car at this track."

Like with his father's test in Phoenix, Bryan Herta had a great deal of influance in the set up of the car, and giving the young Andretti input getting him acclimated to the Texas Speedway oval.
